By J. Venkatesan
NEW DELHI,
NOV. 16.
The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Maharashtra and Karnataka Governments on a plea from the Central Bureau of Investigation to allow recording of evidence through video conferencing in jail premises to avoid the accused being taken to different States.
A Bench, comprising Justice S.B. Sinha and Justice S.H. Kapadia, issued the notice after perusing the status report filed by the CBI informing the court that it had filed 22 charge sheets in the 48 cases relating to the Rs. 30,000 crore Telgi scam.
It also issued notice to the Centre on a plea from the CBI to allow the officers on deputation to remain with the agency till the investigation into all the cases were completed.
