TDP hopes peace talks will succeed

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, NOV. 16. The Telugu Desam Party has hoped that the peace talks initiated by the Government with the CPI (Maoist) and the CPI-ML (Janashakti) will succeed and peace prevail in the State.

At separate press conferences here on Tuesday, former Ministers, Kadiyam Srihari, Tammineni Seetaram, S.Chandramohan Reddy, former MPs, S.Venugopala Chary and Gutta Sukhender Reddy, said Government should create conducive atmosphere for continuation of the talks instead of trying to sabotage the on going process.

They expressed doubts that the attitude of the Government appears to be thwart the peace talks. "The Government is creating problems for the naxalite parties by refusing permission for public meetings, imposing restrictions and resorting to steps which may become hurdles to the second phase of talks," they pointed out.

They took objection to the reported statement of the Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, that factionalists were better than naxalites.
