CUDDAPAH, NOV. 16. The Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder president, Manda Krishna, State president, Dandu Veeraiah, vice-president, K.C. Lakshmaiah, general secretary, Gangaraju and other leaders launched `chaitanya yatra' at Balapanur, the native village of the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday. They were demanding legislative safeguards to the classification of Scheduled Castes in the wake of the Supreme Court judgment quashing the GO issued by the previous Government. Later, they went to Ankalammagudur, the native village of Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy's wife, Vijayalakshmi, and sought the support of her family members to their cause. They proceeded to Pulivendula to call on the YSR's mother, Y.S. Jayamma, at her residence. The MRPS leaders submitted a memorandum to her and appealed to her to prevail upon her son to ensure reclassification of SCs through an enactment by Parliament. They said they would send separate memoranda signed by Madigas of Balapanur and Ankalammagudur to the Chief Minister. The district MRPS president, V. Ramana, and the general secretary, Ramanjaneyulu, also participated.
