Wait for court orders: Salem Law College
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
NOV. 16.
The Central Law College at Salem, only private law college in the State, has urged the Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University to wait for the outcome of a petition it filed before the Supreme Court, before allotting students for the current year.
In a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, the management said the college had so far been admitting students purely on merit, selected by a committee headed by a former High Court judge. However, this year the Government extended the common entrance test to this college also with 50 per cent seats for government quota.
The college moved the Supreme Court against this. The college kept the 50 per cent government quota seats vacant, but it wants the university to wait for the Supreme Court orders and then proceed with allotment of students in accordance with the orders, so as to avoid litigation and to protect the students' interest.
