Vestas to invest Rs. 35 crores in Chennai

CHENNAI, NOV. 16. Vestas RRB India Limited (Vestas RRB), which makes Vestas type wind electric generators, is planning to set up its own wind generation blade and controller box manufacturing facilities in Chennai.

The blade-producing unit will come up on the Poonamalle High Road and the controller box unit at the existing plant in Chennai. The company will invest Rs. 30 crores in the blade unit and Rs. 5 crores in the controller box unit, according to its Managing Director, Rakesh Bakshi.

Mr. Bakshi said the company was manufacturing wind turbines at its plant in Chennai with a capacity of 200 MW. Vestas RRB, promoted by RRB Consultants and Engineers Pvt. Ltd., India, and Vestas Wind Systems, Denmark, was expected to record a turnover of Rs. 600 crores in the current year.Vestas RRB is an Indo-Danish joint venture set up for the manufacture of Vestas Type Wind Electric Generations in India. RRB Consultants and Engineers Pvt. Ltd., India, and Vestas Wind Systems, Denmark, promoted Vestas RRB.
