No rollback in LPG prices "as of now"
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
NOV. 16.
The Government today virtually ruled out any rollback in LPG (cooking gas) prices, which had not only been raised by Rs. 20 a cylinder on November 4 but will now go up by Rs. 5 every month.
The Petroleum Minister, Mani Shankar Aiyar, said that "as of now" LPG prices would continue to rise for the next five months as announced earlier.
The Government had decided to allow the sale of petrol based on import parity. In other words, domestic petrol prices would be linked to international prices and fluctuate accordingly. The Government would continue to control the prices of diesel, LPG and kerosene, he added.
Mr. Aiyar said the reduction in petrol prices by Rs 1.16 a litre yesterday was in line with the fall in international prices.
