ANANTAPUR, NOV. 16. The Comprehensive Land Development Programme and Rajiv Yuvashakti Scheme would be launched in the district on November 19, the District Collector, Y.V. Anuradha, stated here on Tuesday. The two schemes would be launched by the incharge Minister of the district, Gollapalli Surya Rao. Speaking to newspersons the Collector said the land development scheme would be taken up initially in 8,000 acres with Rs. 12 crores under RIDF-9 funds. It would be implemented in one village each of all the 14 Assembly constituencies to begin with.
Villages selected
The villages selected for the launch of the scheme were: Bommeparthi (Anantapur), Sodanapalli (Singanamala), Devunuppalapadu (Tadipatri), Karadikonda (Gooty), Pedda Mushturu (Uravakonda), Dampetla (Dharmavaram), Kondapagaripalli (Gorantla), Borampalli (Kalyanadurg), Chedum (Rayadurg), Kondapalli (Penukonda), Veerapallipeta (Kadiri), Balasamudram (Nallamada), Rachepalli (Hindupur) and Ralla Anantapuram (Madakasira). An amount of about Rs. 40,000 would be spent on each beneficiary family for land development works, the Collector noted. Proposals were also sent to the Government to take up the programme in 302 more village with Rs. 37 crores under RIDF-10 funds. The land covered in the proposed next phase was 21,790 acres.
Water allocation
The Collector stated that the proportionate allocation of Tungabhadra water to the district had been reassessed at 20.38 tmc ft due to poor inflows into Tungabhadra project in October. Earlier, it was assessed to allocate 23.68 tmc ft based on the expectation of realisation of 155 tmc ft water into the project. However, it had come down to 134 tmc ft now. About 14.76 tmc was already utilised by the district and another 1.57 tmc ft was added as seepage and evaporation losses. As a result, only about 4 tmc ft allocation was left to be utilised. But the farmers under HLC had cultivated crops in 24,000 acres additionally than the extent allowed. They were in danger of facing water scarcity, she stated. The administration had written to the Government seeking allocation of an additional 3 tmc ft of water to the district from the State quota and a positive response was being expected, she said. She also announced that water to Penna Ahobilam Balancing Reservoir and Tadipatri Branch Canal would be given from Wednesday.
