ANANTAPUR, NOV. 16. Two persons were injured in a group clash over a piece of land between two families at Gorantla in the district today. They were admitted to the hospital with cuts inflicted with sickles. According to the police, the families of Ravindra Reddy and Arunprakash Reddy had a land dispute for long. Ravindra Reddy was killed allegedly by the rival group in November last. Since then the two groups had been maintaining calm. In the meantime, efforts had also begun for a peaceful settlement of the dispute between Arunprakash Reddy and the brothers of Ravindra Reddy -- Majunatha Reddy and Subbi Reddy. Accordingly, the mediators were measuring the land today, when the problem broke again and Arunprakash Reddy allegedly attacked one Raghunatha Reddy with a hunting sickle in the fields. The injured Raghunatha Reddy was rushed to the Government Hospital (DCH) at Hindupur. Later, the rival group allegedly attacked and injured Arunprakash Reddy in the same fashion. He was rushed to a Bangalore hospital. The two injured were stated to be safe. The police have taken 13 persons into custody from both groups.
