Cuddupah Municipality upgraded

HYDERABAD, NOV. 16. The Cuddapah Municipality has been upgraded to a Corporation under Section 3 of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations Act, 1994 and A.P. Municipal Corporations (Fixation of criteria for specification of larger urban areas) Rules, 1994.

An order issued by the Principal Secretary to Government, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, J.R. Anand, said the District Collector would serve as Special Officer of the Cuddapah Municipal Corporation. The Collector will exercise the powers and perform the duties and functions of the corporation, the Standing Committee and the Wards Committee.

The decision was taken taking into account the criteria including the population, its density, revenue, percentage of population engaged in non-agricultural activities, its economic importance and other factors.
