TIRUPATI. Nov. 16. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, has said that the Galeru-Nagari project about which the TDP only created much ado without doing anything on the ground, would become a reality only during the Congress regime. The people in the drought-hit Rayalaseema area have only been hearing about the project all these years but it would take a final shape only during our regime, he said. Addressing a gathering briefly after declaring open the extension block of the government degree college at Puttur, constructed at a cost of about Rs.40 lakhs, Dr. Reddy said that the Congress Government was committed to completing all the irrigation projects it had named during the election.
Meaningful education
He said the imparting of education would become meaningful only when women take to education more and more and develop in the social and economic facets. The Puttur MLA and a senior PCC leader, G. Muddukrishnama Naidu, wanted that Chittoor also be tagged to the list of the districts to be covered under the Government's latest Food-for-Work programme as its drought was also equally drought-hit if not worse compared to the districts identified for the programme. Among the other participants were the party's whip and the Vayalapadu MLA, Kirankumar Reddy and his Nagari and Tamballepalle counterparts, R. Chenga Reddy and C. Prbhakar Reddy.
