Vishnu Sahasranama competition

NEW DELHI NOV. 16. The Vishnu Sahasranama Satsangam, Ramakrishnapuram, will conduct a Vishnu Sahasranama recitation competition for students of various schools of different classes and age groups at Devi Kamakshi Mandir Hall on Aruna Asaf Ali Road in New Delhi at 9-30 a.m. on November 21. Laparoscopic workshop planned

NEW DELHI NOV. 16. To mark its third anniversary, Bhatia Global Hospital and Endosurgery Institute is organising a three-day live laparoscopic workshop here in the Capital from November 19. Total laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy and laparoscopic myomectomy would be demonstrated on the first day. The Director and Consultant Laparoscopic Gynaecologist, Mumbai, Rakesh Sinha, will deliver a motivational lecture on "Create Your Own Future".

"Focus on Urinary Stones" will include retroperitoneoscopic surgery, flexible uretero-renoscopic surgery and percutaneous nephrolithotomy for kidney/ureteric stones.

Davide Lomanto of the National University Hospital, Singapore, will show different techniques of laparoscopic hernia repair. Along with live workshops, a galaxy of speakers would share their practical experiences and knowledge.

Russian artists perform

NEW DELHI NOV. 16. As part of the Indo-Russian Children Exchange programme, three Russian delegations -- coming from different regions of that country -- enthralled the audience with dance and a circus at Yamnua Vihar here this past Sunday.

Organised by the Nehru Bal Samiti and the Delhi Tourism, the Russian children danced to Hindi film songs like "Mere Hatho Me Nau Nau Chudiya Hain". Two young artistes from Russia presented several circus items. The noted tabla player, Deepak Mehta, also participated in the function.

The delegations will be visiting various schools for a close interaction with Indian children. They have already visited the historical cities of Agra and Jaipur.

Music, dance festival

NEW DELHI NOV. 16. The Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, E.V.K.S. Elangovan, inaugurated a music and dance festival at the Delhi Tamil Sangam here today. He also announced Rs. 1 lakh to the Delhi Tamil Sangam as corpus fund for the "Jawaharlal Nehru -- M.S. Subbulakshmi Award''. On the occasion, the Minister recalled how Pandit Nehru was mesmerised by the melodious voice of M.S. Subbulakshmi. He also lauded the efforts of the Sangam in popularising traditional music and dance.
