KOA awards

BANGALORE, NOV. 16 The Karnataka Olympic Association will honour the outstanding sportspersons of the State at a function at `Yavanika' hall in the State Youth Centre here on Thursday. The Chief Minister, Mr. Dharam Singh will give away the awards and the awardees include the swimming ace, Rehan Poncha and the National badminton men's singles runner-up, Arvind Bhat.

Veteran Kannada sports journalist, J.V.Shyamsundar of the `Samyukta Karnataka' will receive the award in the sports scribe category.

The awardees are: Sahana Kumar (athletics), A.V.Srinivasa Gowda (basketball), B.Arvind Bhat (badminton), Raj Kumar (boxing), Neelamma M.Mallgawad (cycling ), Sumeet Sainatha Naidu (fencing), B.H. Sumarani (gymnastics), M.Venkat Rama Rao (hockey), G.K.Shwetha (tennis), N.Ranjith (shooting), Bharath Kumar Padival (handball), L.Jayanth (Kabaddi), R. Eranna (Kho-kho), Rehan Poncha (swimming ), B.M.Ashwini (Table tennis), M.Anitha (taekwondo), Syed Jabir (triathlon), M.N.Vikram (volleyball),and Sandeep G.Maindan ( weightlifting)., Vittal Gopal Murtugudde amd S.Shadakshari ( sports promotion ) and J.V.Shyamsundar ( sports journalism).
