Malleswar Rao triumphs

HYDERABAD, NOV.16. J. Malleswar Rao with eight points emerged champion in the S.R.Datla Memorial open prize money chess tournament organised by the Dronacharya Chess Academy at Vasavi Club here.

Settling for a draw in the final round game against J.Venkata Ramana in 32 moves in King's Indian Defence, Malleswara Rao picked eight points from nine rounds.

Final placings: 1. J.Malleswar Rao 8 pts, 2. N.Ravikanth 7.5, 2. J.Venkatramana 7.5, 4. P.Satyanarayana 7, 5. P.Praveen Prasad 7, 6. V.Jagadish 7, 7. G.V.Srinivas 7, 8. J.Ramakrishna 7, 9. A.Tejdeep 7 and 10. N.Pragna 7.
