HYDERABAD, NOV.16. J. Malleswar Rao with eight points emerged champion in the S.R.Datla Memorial open prize money chess tournament organised by the Dronacharya Chess Academy at Vasavi Club here. Settling for a draw in the final round game against J.Venkata Ramana in 32 moves in King's Indian Defence, Malleswara Rao picked eight points from nine rounds.
