MANGALORE, NOV. 16. Ramakrishna Education institutions, managed by Bunts Alias Nadavara Mathr Sangha here, is set for yearlong silver jubilee celebrations. Founded by Srinath Hegde, Aerya Laxminarayana Alva, and Narayana Alva, stalwarts of the Bunt community, in 1980 with four teachers and a dozen students as a primary school, it has since grown into a leading centre for education. At present, the institution offers education from nursery to pre-university level and has 33 teachers, six non-teaching staff, and 985 students. The management intends to start a first grade college next year. It has applied for permission from Mangalore University to start BSW and BBM courses in 2005-06 as well as B.Ed. course from 2006-07. Nitte Shashidhar Shetty, correspondent of the institution, told presspersons that the management had opened a computer laboratory to coincide with silver jubilee celebrations recently. He said eight acres of land had been purchased at Karamabaru on Bajpe road. Work would soon begin on constructing a building for the first grade college. The management had decided to honour past conveners of the institutions, retired teachers and rank holders at a function on Saturday at the A.B. Shetty Centenary Hall, he said. The event would mark the formal inauguration of the silver jubilee celebrations.
