Weather

Forecast: Partly cloudy sky. Waltair, the maximum temperature was 30.5 degree Celsius and the minimum was 24.2 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 77 per cent and at 5.30 p.m was 74 per cent. At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 31.8 degree Celsius and 24.8 degree Celsius. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 74 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 65 per cent.

The maximum and minimum temperatures at the Dolphin's Nose were 31 degree Celsius and 22.2 degree Celsius. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 83 per cent.

Power shutdown

According to a press release from the office of divisional electricity engineer (Operations) zone - I, power will be shut down in the following areas from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to post monsoon maintenance works. Judge Court, SBI Colony, Singh Hotel Junction, Golalapalem, Viskhapatnam Municipal Corporation, Ramnagar, Rednam Gardens and Visakha Women's College.

Samples seized

Officials of the Drugs Control Administration raided a wholesale medical distributor's shop near Perugu Bazar at Anakapalle on Tuesday and seized physician's samples worth Rs.50,000. The raid was conducted by Drugs Inspectors, M.N. Chary, T. Sreerama Murthy and R. Udaya Bhaskar, under the supervision of Assistant Director, R.V.S.R.B. Sarma.

BSNL timing

The BSNL Customer Service Centre at M.V.P. Colony will work for six days a week from Wednesday with holiday on every Tuesday. The timings also have been extended from Wednesday. It will work from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. However, cash will be accepted only up to 7 p.m.

VSP communiqué

The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Chairman and Managing Director, Y. Siva Sagar Rao, on Tuesday inaugurated a new communiqué of the Finance and Accounts Department of the plant, "Vitta Gyanam''. The Director (finance), P.K. Bishnoi, said that the bi-monthly bulletin was part of the new initiative to update financial knowledge.

ISI mark misuse

A team of three officers of Bureau of Indian Standards, Visakhapatnam branch, recently raided Kalyani Foods at Anakapalle for misusing the ISI mark. The firm has a valid ISI licence but was found marking the licence number of a Bangalore-based company, according to the Director of BIS, D.K. Murthy. Unauthorised packing material and slips too were seized.
