RTA office connected online with testing track

By Our Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA, NOV. 16. The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has announced introduction of online connectivity of its main office on MG Road with the field checking (FC) station and newly laid driving testing track at Gannavaram to expedite the day-to-day transactions.

The move would help in speedy issuance of permanent driving licenses and fitness certificates for vehicles, the Deputy Transport Commissioner, S.A.V. Prasada Rao, told reporters here on Tuesday.

Under the present manual system after completion of the test at Gannavaram, the motor vehicle inspector has to come to the main office for according approval to the applicant.

Saving time

But with the introduction of the online system, the inspector could accord approval from the testing station, thus saving considerable time in completion of the transaction. Over a period of time arrangements would be made for issuance of licenses and certificates at the field testing station itself, Mr. Rao said. He said in order to avoid inconvenience to the public a special counter was also set up at the place for collecting the FC fee in cash to avoid the need for payment through bank challans.

e-LLR introduced

Mr. Rao also announced the introduction of the `e-LLR' (electronic learners licence report) at the RTA main office. Under the e-LRR system applicants posed 20 questions from a question bank of 300 should answer at least 12 of the questions correctly to pass.

He said Krishna district was the second highest contributor to the Transport Department in the State both in terms of revenue and vehicle population. As against the target of Rs. 109 crores fixed for the current financial year, the district had contributed Rs 62.38 crores till October.
