THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 16. The Commissioner of Police has issued a notification banning demonstrations, protests and dharnas on MG Road during working hours. As per the notification, the organisers should obtain permission at least three days in advance from the Commissioner stating the reasons, route, time and approximate number of persons participating in the proposed assembly or procession. In addition to this, assemblies and processions from LMS Church to East Fort are prohibited on all working days between 9.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and between 4 p.m and 6 p.m. Assemblies and processions should not cover the full width of the road and should be in two lines through the left side of the road without causing any hindrance to traffic. Legal action will be taken against those who violate the rule, the notification stated.
