HYDERABAD, NOV. 16. Work on Telugu Talli flyover, connecting the major link from Liberty towards Secunderabad, is finally being wound up. "The construction is almost through except for removing the scaffolding, erecting of poles and some finishing touches. Pending work will be completed in a week's time and it will be open for the public by month-end," the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) Vice-Chairman, G. Ashok Kumar, says.
Service road work
The tentative official inauguration is, however, scheduled for December first week and by then it is hoped that the service road on the Lower Tank Bund road to be laid by the MCH maybe ready. Land acquisition and demolition of some houses to lay the service road of required width have been the sore points with house owners opposing the demolition. Following the High Court directive, a committee, comprising HUDA, MCH and traffic police officials, inspected the area to assess whether the width of the service road could be reduced from the originally proposed 30 ft in deference to the appeal of the House Owners Welfare Association. The committee submitted to the court that the width could not be reduced beyond 25 ft. The Additional Commissioner (Planning), M.V. Satyanarayana, said the compensation for the house owners was being revised in the wake of reduction of the width. "A formal approval from the High Court is expected in a week and demolition work will commence soon after. The service road should be ready in a month's time," he said.
