Misty morning likely

NEW DELHI NOV. 16. Delhiites will wake up to a misty morning on Wednesday. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 12 degrees Celsius.

While the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung were 29.8 degrees Celsius and 13.2 degrees Celsius respectively, Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 29.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.3 degrees Celsius.

While Safdarjung recorded a maximum and minimum humidity of 80 per cent and 19 per cent respectively, Palam recorded maximum humidity of 75 per cent and minimum humidity of 27 per cent.

Book author attacked

NEW DELHI NOV. 16. Akram Raza Khan, whose bizarre experience as the victim of a kidney racket was released recently in the form of a book, has alleged that he was abducted and attacked by some persons in East Delhi on Monday.

The alleged attackers had called him up saying they wanted to interview him in a Noida studio. He was asked to wait for a vehicle at a traffic intersection in Laxmi Nagar on Monday afternoon. After waiting for some time at the pre-decided place, he got into a white Toyota Qualis with "PRESS" written on it.

The vehicle, in which there were four persons including the driver, moved towards Noida. According to Akram, the vehicle stopped at a desolate place where the occupants began questioning him about his plans to get a film made on his experiences. Soon they began beating him up. When he came out of the vehicle, he was attacked on his forehead and neck with a razor blade.

Burglars held

NEW DELHI NOV. 16. A gang of burglars allegedly active in West Delhi, North-West Delhi and South-West Delhi has been busted by the West Delhi police. Six persons, including three alleged receivers of stolen property, have been arrested and 34 cases solved.

Following a tip-off about the gang, the Special Staff of the West Delhi police laid a trap near Ghanta Ghar in Hari Nagar on Monday. Around 2-30 p.m., three suspects appeared on the scene and were arrested. Those arrested have been identified as Manoj, Rajender Singh and Anil. At their instance, three jewellers who allegedly received stolen goods were also arrested. They have been identified as Mahesh Kumar, Subhash Chander and Krishan Chand Dass.

Action against policemen

NEW DELHI NOV. 16. The Delhi police today initiated disciplinary proceedings against one inspector and an additional station house officer after transferring them to non-sensitive postings with immediate effect.

According to the police, Girish Kumar, an Inspector with Crime and Railways, and Dharmendra Kumar, an Additional SHO at Kalyanpuri police station in East Delhi, have been transferred to the Second Battalion of Delhi Armed Police.
