BANGALORE, NOV. 16. In separate incidents on Tuesday, protestors staged demonstrations in front of a private hospital and an ESI Hospital after the death of two patients there. Some persons damaged the windowpanes of the private hospital, located in Pillana Garden in K.G. Halli police station limits, following the death of Yakub Sharief (35) of Devarajeevanahalli. They alleged that negligence by the hospital authorities had led to the death of Sharief. The police said Sharief, who was unconscious when he was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, died on Monday afternoon. A protest was staged in front of the ESI Hospital in Rajajinagar police station limits after the death of Shivamma (25) of Hegganahalli in Peenya 2nd Stage. The police said Shivamma was admitted to the maternity ward of the hospital on Monday evening, and she was delivered of a baby this morning. However, a little later, the baby died of breathlessness and Shivamma died of excessive bleeding, the police said. A group of people staged a protest for nearly six hours alleging negligence by the hospital authorities. They dispersed after the police reportedly promised that action would be taken if the hospital officials were found guilty of negligence.
