ADILABAD, NOV. 17. A teenaged boy suffered bullet injury on his head when a 0.22 ricochet hit him while he was on the way to Sri Ramachandra Gopala Krishna Mutt early on Wednesday. Two Armed Reserve constables were on a mission to kill stray dogs when the incident occurred at the open place between the Mutt and the DMHO office. Peddewar Srinivas, 14, son of Rajesh and resident of Shantinagar locality was said to be out of danger even as the bullet hit him over his left jawbone. He was taken to Hyderbad for surgery. The policemen were shooting down stray and rabid dogs after the municipality sought police help to eliminate the dog menace. As many as 70 cases of dog-bite were reported during the last few days. Srinivas, a IX Class student of Government Gazetted High School, accompanied by his friend Satish, was going to the Mutt for prayers in connection with Kartika masam.
The Adilabad Municipal Chairman, Badan Ganganna, said the municipality would take care of the Srinivas' treatment. The police have registered a case against the constables.
