'No' to Musharraf proposal

By Harish Khare

SRINAGAR, NOV. 17. The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, today virtually rejected the "Musharraf Plan".

At a press conference here, when asked about the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf's "seven regions" proposal, Dr. Singh recalled what he had told the General in New York: "No redrawing of the international border, and no redrawing of boundaries on the basis of religion; anything within the framework of these two parameters could be discussed."

This was the most definite reaction to date from India on Gen. Musharraf's proposal.
