Cloudy skies

CHENNAI, NOV. 17. THE sky will be partly cloudy on Thursday. On Wednesday, Nungambakkam registered a maximum of 31.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.9. Meenambakkam recorded a maximum of 31 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.8. The humidity was 77 and 81 per cent.

Baby warmer

Inner Wheel Club of Madras 323 donated a baby warmer to Kaiselvi Karunalaya's child adoption centre at Mogappair west. Azhaghu Annamalai, chairman, Inner Wheel Club inaugurated the facility on Tuesday. The institution caring for 42 babies of which 39 were girls, eight were pre-mature infants, and 11 with special needs. The institution has appealed to the public for funds. English refresher

The UGC-Academic Staff College, University of Madras is conducting a refresher course in English for lecturers working in Universities and colleges from November 18 to December 8.

The MTS Academy has invited applications for admission to spoken English courses. Registration will be done for the first 50 participants by November 30. Diabetic, eye camp

Rajan Eye Care Hospital in association with Bharani hospital conducted a free diabetic and eye camp at the Bharani Hospital on Sunday on the occasion of World Diabetic Day. More than 150 patients were advised by a team of doctors led by Mohan Rajan, opthalmologist and Dharmarajan, diabetologist.
