Temperature
MADURAI, NOV. 17 . The city today registered a maximum temperature of 31.2 degree Celsius and a minimum of 21.3 degree Celsius.
Water level
With no fresh flow into the dam, the discharge was reduced to 2,300 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 8,398 mcft. No rainfall was recorded in the Periyar-Vaigai basin.
`Kanda Sashti'
The ritual, performed as part of the `Kanda Sashti' festival, attracts people from several places around Madurai to Tirupparankunram, one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga. Earlier in the afternoon, the deity was taken out in a procession to the venue of the `Soorasamharam' on the Sannadhi Street.
Stamp exhibition
According to an official release, a workshop on philately will also be held for school children to expose them to stamp collection, mounting and classification. A philatelic counter will be opened at the Kendriya Vidyalaya for the sale of philatelic materials. Children can also avail themselves of the `philatelic deposit account', paying Rs. 200, which will enable them to get the commemorative stamps on the day of issue from the Philatelic Bureau.
