'I too was a refugee'

By Luv Puri

JAMMU, NOV. 18. ``I too was a refugee and can understand the pangs and sufferings of people uprooted from their soil,'' Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said today.

Visibly moved by the plight of Kashmiri Pandits, the Prime Minister said:

``My heart goes out to the people who have been displaced from their homes and are living as refugees in their own country. The condition of the Pandits reminds me of my own personal experiences... . My family moved from a village in Pakistan to this side of the border during Partition days. The problems of Pandits will always remain close to my heart.''
