Ban on recruitment in J&K goes

JAMMU, NOV. 18. The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, today announced the lifting of the Centre's ban on Government recruitments in Jammu and Kashmir in order to address unemployment in the restive state.

At a public rally at the Parade Ground here on the last day of his two-day tour of the State, he said the ban imposed by the Centre would not apply to Jammu and Kashmir since youth here were facing hardships in getting jobs.

Dr. Singh also declared to lift ban on new recruitment in the State and announced that 10,000 unemployed youth from Jammu and Kashmir would be absorbed in Central forces every year.
