VIJAYAWADA, NOV.18. Non-governmental organisation should make best use of Government programmes to help the poor and needy, said Medical and Health Department Director, Mastan Rao. He distributed mosquito nets to beneficiaries selected by the Vasavya Mahila Mandali in Kothapeta area. Vasavya president and former MP, Chennupati Vidya, said mosquito nets were being distributed because of the severe mosquito menace in the area. She said Vasavya was promoting awareness on highly debilitating diseases like Malaria, Filarial, TB, HIV and leprosy in economically backward areas through its Krishna Community Health Interventions Programme. The District Medical and Health officer, A.Ram Prasad, said maintenance of hygienic conditions would bring about tremendous changes in the quality of life of people living in slums and rural areas.
