New website on strides in science

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, NOV. 19. Developments in science and technology in India and other countries in South Asia are slated to get a more comprehensive coverage on the internet with a London-based website devoted to science and technology, www.scidev.net, today launching a regional gateway for the region.

Announcing the launch, the chairman of the website, Geoff Oldham, and its director, David Dickson, said the regional gateway was being launched after considering the rapid strides being made by the countries in the region in science and technology.

Apart from India, it would cover developments in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.

Free resource base

The website is funded and supported by the U.K. Government's Department for International Development, the Swedish International Development, the International Development Research Centre for Canada, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Third World Academy of Science based in Trieste, Italy.
