State firm on quota for Muslims, says Fariduddin

KARIMNAGAR,
NOV. 19.
The Government is committed to providing 5 per cent reservation to Muslim minorities from next academic year, according to the Minister for Minorities and Fisheries, Mohd. Fariduddin.
Talking to newsmen here on Friday, the Minister said the Government had constituted the Backward Classes Commission, which would submit a report within six months for ensuring quota for Muslims.
There were 1.45 lakh acres of Wakf properties in which 60,000 acres of land was encroached, he said and added that a task force was constituted to check encroachment of Wakf properties.
Expressing concern over the decline of fish production in the Telangana region due to severe drought conditions, he said the Government would sanction loans to fishermen to go for alternative employment.
He said the Government would accord priority for Telangana fishermen in the allocation of 20,000 house sites.
The DCC president and Manthani MLA, D. Sridhar, the DCC spokesperson, A. Bhaskar Reddy, and others were present.
