HYDERABAD, NOV. 19. The Netherlands Ambassador, Niehe, on Friday recalled the cooperation between Holland and India and said the excellent development cooperation programme could be put to greater use for society. He was speaking at an international exhibition and conference on water and wastewater management, "Everything About Water Expo 2004", organised by ASSOCHAM and supported by the Canadian High Commission, Netherlands Embassy, Indian Environment Association, Indian Water Works Association and Indian Desalination Association. Earlier, the Governor, Sushil Kumar Shinde, cut the ribbon and lit the lamp to mark the inaugural of the Expo in which 80 companies and agencies have put up stalls.
Two parts
Expo 2004 comprises two parts, the first of which is being held in Hyderabad on November 19/20 and the second will be in Mumbai on January 7/8, 2005. It has been designed to be a leading show highlighting the latest technologies and aimed at adding value to a localised subject like water. Mr. Niehe said an 81 million Euro programme being run in India with a strong focus on water included the Andhra Pradesh Wells Project, Agriculture Management and Ecology Project, National Hydrology Project and the Green Hyderabad Project. While the AP initiative taken up to restore the Water Conservation Mission was commendable, he said, looking to the years ahead, the nation could not afford to be complacent in the field of water management.
