Surprise checks at fair price shops

NAGAPATTINAM,
NOV. 19.
A team of taluk supply officers, special Tahsildars and Deputy Registrars of Co-operative societies in-charge of public distribution, which carried out surprise checks at fair price shops in all taluks of Nagapattinam district, has found irregularities in some shops.
The Nagapattinam Collector, M. Veera Shanmugha Moni, said today that the team detected a shortage of stock of essential commodities in many shops and also found bogus bills being used. Action had been initiated against some salesmen and a penalty of Rs. 33,265 imposed against some others for shortage in the stock.
