Fishermen attend public hearing on Sethu project

RAMANATHAPURAM,
NOV. 19.
Nearly 200 fishermen of Rameswaram island and women of self-help groups today attended the public hearing on Sethusamudram Ship Canal Project held at the Seethakathi sports complex here this evening, wearing black badges opposing the project.
They said it was a right way to express their feelings and views.
The hearing witnessed some anxious moments, as the presence of a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam man in the time allotted for fishermen.
They demanded the authorities to evict the DMK activist, who spoke in support of the project.
The strong posse of policemen pacified the participants by asking the DMK activist to leave the venue.
