Vasan slams BJP

CHENNAI,
NOV. 19.
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, G.K. Vasan, today criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly linking the Congress and its leaders with the arrest of the Kanchi Acharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, in a murder case.
Talking to media persons here, Mr. Vasan said the BJP's attempt was a diversionary tactic as everybody was aware that the police arrested the seer on the basis of "strong evidence" and registered a case.
As the case was now before court it would not be proper to comment on it. He was confident that it would deliver a fair judgment.
Referring to the Acharya's arrest at night, Mr. Vasan said the Government had already clarified the issue.
