RAJUPET (NALGONDA DT.), NOV. 19. The Cooperative Minister, Kanna Laxminarayana, alleged that the Telugu Desam president, Chandrababu Naidu, is hatching a conspiracy to stall the construction of irrigation projects in the State. ``Mr.Naidu, who did not bother to develop the State during his nine-year stint, is determined to prevent the Congress from taking up developmental activities. He is making his henchmen file tenders with lowest rates in a bid to prevent the Government from taking up the construction of the projects,'' he said while addressing a public meeting after launching Indira Prabha and Rajiv Yuva Shakti schemes here on Friday. He also launched the rice credit scheme introduced under Velugu programme.
Ambitious plans
He appealed to the masses to strengthen the hands of the Chief Minister "to defeat the evil designs of Mr.Naidu,'' who, according to the Minister, had destroyed the rural economy and cooperative sector. He claimed that the loan mela taken up for ryots by the Government was "the first of its kind in the history of India.'' The Collector, K.Vijayanand, said that 2,071 beneficiaries would be given away Rs.12.45 crores under the Yuva Shakti programme and 18,230 acres would be developed at a cost of Rs.21 crores under the Indira Prabha scheme. The ZP chairperson, Keetha Laxmamma, MLAs, K.Venkat Reddy, V.Purushottam Reddy, P.Venkat Reddy, V.Venkaiah and Nagesh, were also present.
