HYDERABAD, NOV. 19. The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has said that it has decided to provide a level playing field for all candidates for certain posts that require specialised qualifications. Thus, those candidates with higher qualifications have to appear separately for certain posts for which lesser qualification might be the pre-requisite. This is with regard to the recruitment of gazetted and non-gazetted posts notified in the notification No. 12/2004 and 13/2004 published in leading dailies on September 25 this year. In a statement here, the APPSC Secretary said for posts like Town Planning Assistants, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector, Assistant Engineers, Deputy Inspector (Survey Settlement & Land Records) and Industrial Promotion Officers recruitments, the basic qualification is a diploma. Degree holders in the respective technical discipline are also eligible for these posts, but they have to compulsorily appear for the second paper (optional subject) meant for diploma holders so as to compete on common merit by being tested in a common paper of the diploma standard. The general studies paper is common for both the diploma and degree holders. The higher qualified candidates would naturally be eligible for posts that require special technical skills and where degree is a pre-requisite. Further details are printed in the October 2004 special bulletin of APPSC Udyoga Samacharam.
