Stale food seized at Pampa

By Our Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA, NOV. 20. A raid party led by the Duty Magistrate at Pampa, K. Rajagopal, seized stale food and contaminated edible oil from various eateries at Hilltop and Chakkupalam at Pampa on the foothills of Sabarimala today.

According to the Duty Magistrate, the seizures were destroyed after preparing the mahazar. Mr. Rajagopal said that the raid party also seized cigarettes, beedis and tobacco from a hotel near the KSRTC bus station.

In another raid, revenue officials seized contaminated milk and curd from a jeep parked on the Pampa Manalpuram this forenoon. However, those who were waiting inside the jeep fled when the raid officials approached them.

The Pampa police have registered a case in connection with the incident.

The Duty Magistrate also ordered closure of a public telephone booth near the Triveni Bridge on charges of fleecing the customers.

The raid party also seized a computerised billing machine, which was found tampered, from the phone booth, Mr. Rajagopal said.
