BANGALORE, NOV. 20. Reigning State under-11 champion G.A. Stany of Infant Jesus School, Shimoga, won the State chess championship in a three-way tie at the end of the seventh and final round here on Saturday. Stany, locked with Belgaum's Aniket Pawashe and Udupi's Vikram Saralaya with 5.5 points each, won on a superior progressive score. K. Shruthi of Theerthahalli won the girls' event with a seven out of seven sweep. Shristi J. Shetty of Shimoga was second with 5.5 points. Suraksha Koutsas and Meghana Deshmukh finished third and fourth respectively.
Girls: Meghana drew with Suraksha, Sana lost to Shruthi, Hithaishi lost to Shristi Shetty.
