Suraj Shetty defeated K. Karthik 15-11, 15-4 in the first round of the boys singles (U-10) in the Tata Indicom State ranking badminton tournament at the KBA courts here on Saturday.
Other results: Boys: M. C. Srinivas bt S. Ajay 15-6, 15-3; Rakshit bt Venkatesh 15-0, 15-8. Girls (U-16): Rachita bt Sridevi 11-4, 11-2.
Players qualified for the main draw: Boys (U-13): R. N. Suraj, Yashasvi, Nachiketh, Anand, Siddharth, Nicoloi and Soumyojit. U-16: Harshit Shah, Prajwal Nag, Sonik Prabhu, Rajiv, Sharath, Y. T.
