Police question junior Acharya's brother

By Our Staff Reporter

KANCHEEPURAM, NOV. 20. Raghu, brother of the junior Sankaracharya, Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi, is among the functionaries of the Kanchi Sankara Mutt summoned today for questioning by the police in connection with the Sankararaman murder case.

The interrogation of Sri Jayendra Saraswathi continued for the second day today.

Among those called today to the Superintendent of Police's office on the Collectorate premises here are the Mutt's manager, Sundaresa Iyer, and `Neyveli' Krishnamurthy. While these two returned to the Mutt earlier, Mr. Raghu was asked to stay back for some more time. It was the first time he was summoned for interrogation after his return from Mehbubnagar in Andhra Pradesh earlier this week along with the junior Acharya.

Enquiries with the police reveal that many of the functionaries were being questioned again to compare notes and to tally the various versions thrown up during the investigation. "The interrogation or questioning will continue, but we have not made any arrest today," a police officer said.

Meanwhile, the advocate, V. Krishnaswamy, met Sri Jayendra Saraswathi in the All-Women Police Station, where he is under police custody. He met the Sankaracharya for the second day as per the orders of the Judicial Magistrate-I, G. Uthamaraj.
