NEDUMBASSERY, NOV. 20. Cochin International Airport Ltd; today acquired an Austrian made air-crash fire tender. The airport managing director, V. J. Kurian, inaugurated it. The vehicle, brought from the Austrian company Rosenbauer, costs Rs. 2 crores. The fire tender has a fully electroneumatic operation system and is equipped with the latest communication gadgets. It is capable of storing 9,000 litres of water and 1,000 litres of foam. It has a monitor capable of pumping to a distance of 75 m. It has a 410 hp engine and could cover 110 km per hour.
