KOCHI, NOV. 20. More than 2.5 lakh children under 5 years will be given polio vaccine in the district on Sunday. The vaccine will be administered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through 2,032 booths. About 4,200 volunteers and 300 supervisors including doctors have been drafted for the duty, according to the District Medical Officer (DMO), C. Raghavan. He told reporters here today that special booths would function at hospitals, anganwadis, railway stations, bus stands, airport and boat jetties. The District Collector, Muhammad Hanish, will inaugurate the programme at the Ernakulam South Railway Station. As fresh cases of polio have been reported in the neighbouring States Kerala will have to continue the administration of polio vaccine, he said.
