Police foil Janashakti meet

By Our Special Correspondent

SRIKAKULAM, NOV. 21. The meeting of the CPI(ML) Janashakti in Boddapau village near Palasa on Saturday evening had to be cancelled as the police clamped prohibitory orders.

Party leaders -- K. Chandranna, Ch. Srinivasa Rao and others arrived at the Palasa railway station to an enthusiastic welcome. They then went in a large procession to the martyr's column. There they were informed by the police that as prohibitory orders were in force permission for the meeting could not be accorded. This resulted in a heated argument between the police and the meeting organisers. The leaders criticised the Government for denying permission. Police said they had no objection if an indoor meeting was held.
