BANGALORE, NOV. 21. Uday S. Athreya and B.M. Ashwini emerged the men's and women's champions respectively, in the Indira Nagar Club State-ranking table tennis championship, which concluded at the club hall here on Sunday. In a hard-fought men's final, Athreya defeated Anirban Tarafdar 11-4, 11-6, 14-12, 10-12, 9-11, 11-8. Ashwini beat arch-rival V. Ranjitha 7-11, 11-4, 12-10, 13-11, 12-10 in the women's final. Ranjitha, however, had the consolation of bagging the junior girls' singles title with a 15-13, 6-11, 14-12, 13-11, 8-11, 11-5 win over S.R. Nikitha in the final.
Men's singles: Uday S. Athreya bt Anirban Tarafdar 11-4, 11-6, 14-12, 10-12, 9-11, 11-8.
Junior boys singles: C.P. Karthik bt H. Prateek 4-11, 11-7, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 11-7.
Women's singles: B.M. Ashwini bt V. Ranjitha 7-11, 11-4, 12-10, 13-11, 12-10.
Junior girls singles: V. Ranjitha bt S.R. Nikitha 15-13, 6-11, 14-12, 13-11, 8-11, 11-5.
Veterans singles: Uday Shankar bt N.V. Raman 11-8, 11-5, 11-7. Doubles: Uday Shankar / K. Satyanarayana bt R. Prasad/Rajesh Kumble 10-12, 11-9, 11-5, 11-3.
40+ singles: Anthony Chang bt R. Prasad 11-8, 7-11, 12-10, 11-6.
