By Our Special Correspondent
VIJAYAWADA, NOV. 21. The Krishna District Collector, K. Prabhakara Reddy, has called upon the pharmacists to create awareness about modern medicine among the common man. Pharmacists play a prominent role as a bridge between the doctors and patients and they should accordingly improve their skills in tune with the advances in medical field, he said. Inaugurating the 43rd National Pharmacy Week Celebrations here on Sunday being organised by the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, the District Collector underscored the need for the pharmacists to educate the people about the modes of consumption, preservation and other aspects of medicines besides explaining them about the composition of the drugs they sell to customers. In addition, the pharmacists should also strive to provide quality drugs to the people.
State tops production
Stating that Andhra Pradesh was ahead of other States in terms of production of drugs, he said that there were over 200 major and 8,000 medium and small pharma units which were catering to the needs of the people. The Collector later released a book `Krishna Chemist.'

Nagi Reddy explained that the association was conducting the pharmacy week celebrations in the third week of November every year with an aim to educate the people about the developments in the medical and pharmaceutical fields.
