Speed breakers

needed

Sir, _ There are two roads running parallel in the Bank of Baroda Staff Colony, New Bakaram Gandhinagar. Of late, many apartments have come up in and around the colony resulting in abounding vehicular traffic. Residents of the colony are mostly pensioners and senior citizens. Adjacent to the colony is a high school. Children and the aged, using the road, are facing risk in the absence of speed breakers.

I request the authorities concerned to provide three speed breakers on each of these roads facilitating safe movement of pedestrian traffic.

Introduce

more buses

Sir, _ Residents of the areas of Red Hills, near the Niloufer Cancer Hospital, feel the necessity of having more RTC buses on these routes towards Koti, Secunderabad, RTC Cross Roads and Sanathnagar. Only two routes being operated, both from Charminar, one to Ahmednagar via Masb Tank and the other to Golkonda. I request the authorities concerned to introduce more services on these routes.

Helmet rule

Sir, _ The use of helmets by two-wheelers is necessary for safety, but certain exemptions need. Most of the accident victims are male youngsters who drive at high speed. There are hardly any cases where senior citizens are involved in road accidents.

The Government may do well to critically examine the statistics of road accidents involving two wheelers and exempt moped users, women and senior citizens from the use of helmets.

Exempt senior

citizens

Sir, _ May I appeal to the kind consideration of the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and other authorities the difficulties experienced by senior citizens in riding two wheelers with a helmet. In their case, compulsory imposition of helmet rule will be a liability and burden instead of it being a protective headgear. Most of them have spondylities, BP, diabetes and other ailments. So, compulsory helmet wearing may not be insisted upon them.

Ensure regular

water supply

Sir, _ Drinking water supply to R&D Defence Enclave in the Sikh village area under the Secunderabad Cantonment Board jurisdiction has been erratic for quite some time. Ever since water supply connections had been given to the residents in 1996, the supply used to be on alternate days. In course of time it was made weekly thrice.

Since June this year, the water supply interval on several occasions has been three days, and even four to five days. Even the timing of supply is not certain.

May I request the authorities concerned to look into the problem and ensure water supply on a regular interval at specific timings.

Deposit not repaid

Sir, _ We have invested Rs. 50,000 in fixed deposit of Synergy Financial Exchange, Chennai, jointly and the said amount was due for repayment on 6.6.98. The said company was liquidated and an official liquidator had been appointed by the Government to settle the matter. More than four years have passed but the said issue has not been settled.

I request the authorities to settle the matter early. There are many senior citizens eagerly awaiting to get back the hard earned money.

Bank approach unfair

Sir, _ The RBI has instructed Prudential Co-operative Bank to pay Rs. 20,000 to depositors in addition to the earlier amount of Rs. 1,000. However, the bank foreclosed the customers' deposit accounts after adjusting the earlier amount of Rs. 1,000 and interest thereon against the foreclosed deposit proceeds and settling the interest due on the deposit amount till the date of pre-closure and paid only the balance out of Rs. 20,000. It kept the remaining amount as a fresh deposit with nominal interest. In my case, the original deposit was Rs. 35,000 carrying the interest rate of 14 per cent and it was foreclosed and paid me only Rs. 18,586 and issued a fresh deposit receipt for Rs. 21,736. This sort of approach by the bank is unfair.

No response

from BSNL

Sir, _ My mobile number is 9440724676. From the beginning I don't get any type of service message such as new schemes/offers or any other messages on my mobile from BSNL Cellone Call Centre.

To this effect I had lodged several complaints with Cellone Helpdesk on 9440024365. My mails to BSNL Cellone PG Cell with a copy to General Manager/Cellone, including Chief General Manager, Andhra Pradesh Circle did not yield any result.

I request the BSNL to look into the matter.
