NEW DELHI, NOV. 21. Three persons, who allegedly kidnapped a six-year-old boy from Uttam Nagar in West Delhi last month, were arrested from Madhubani in Bihar by the Inter-State Cell of the Crime Branch this past Saturday. While a 12 bore double barrel gun, a single barrel rifle and three pistols were recovered from their possession, the victim was also rescued during the operation. Naushad, son of Dilshad, went missing from outside his Uttam Nagar residence on October 17. Four days later, Dilshad received a call in which the caller demanded Rs. 70 lakhs of ransom amount for Naushad's release. It was then the local police registered a kidnapping case on Dilshad's complaint. When the local police failed to track down the accused, the case was handed over to the Crime Branch for the investigations. Nearly a month after the kidnapping, the Inter-State Cell began probing the case. It came to light that Naushad's cousin, Arshad, was missing from his house for the past two months. His relatives claimed that he had gone to Goa, while Dilshad told the police that Arshad had few friends from Bihar who could have helped in kidnap his son. In the meantime, the police came to know that Arshad had opened a barber shop but had closed it four months ago. There, he became friends with two persons named Sanjay and John. The three had recently taken a girl to Bihar and allegedly sold her to Munna and Maya. But, the girl managed to flee from their clutches. Suspecting that the kidnappers had taken Naushad to Bihar, the police sent a team comprising Inspector Pankaj Sood and Sub-Inspector Harbir Singh along with Naushad's father to Bihar. Enquiries revealed that Naushad had been kept in the house of one Madhukar Singh at Jagolia in Madhubani. Subsequently, the police raided the house and rescued the boy. When the police tried to arrest the accused, Madhukar allegedly attempted to open fire at them from a double barrel gun. However, it misfired following which the police overpowered him and two other accused, Arshad and Sajit Abrar. Three other accused, Durga Singh, Sanjay Singh and Shiv Shankar, managed to flee. During interrogation, Arshad revealed that three months ago, he had borrowed Rs. 3,000 from Dilshad and later expressed inability to repay the debt, which led to a heated argument between the two. In order to take revenge, Arshad planned to kidnap Dilshad's son. On October 17, he called Naushad when he was outside his house, gave him a toffee and fruity mixed with sedatives, after which he along with Sanjay, John took him to Jagolia.
