BANGALORE, NOV. 22. With "sending back healthy tourists" becoming a critical issue for the tourism and hospitality industry here, the entry of a Scottish manufacturer of air and water purifying systems has assumed importance. "Scotmas provides powerful yet environmentally safe biocides and hygiene products used around the world," Derek Cameron, managing director of the firm, told presspersons recently. With an increase in the number of tourists, offering bacteria-free hotel rooms and restaurants had become important, he said. A hotel guest could inadvertently leave behind bacteria, which could infect the next guest from overseas, with perhaps lower immunity, he noted.
Joint venture
Scotmas would market its products in India through a joint venture with Triumph Services Network, its director, Chetan Shukla, said. Some of the chemical and biological products could later be made here for application in water treatment, environment protection, microbial control, food plant hygiene and odour control, he said.
