Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, NOV. 22. The Chairman of Pondicherry State Wakf Board and Congress MLA, M.O.H.F. Shah Jahan, has appealed to the administration to introduce stringent laws to punish those grabbing private property through illegal means in the Union Territory. He said that even Government land was being grabbed and sold illegally, and the authorities could not afford to remain complacent. There should be effective legislation to punish landgrabbers; otherwise property owners would feel insecure, he said. Mr. Shah Jahan said the Lawspet airport had been lying idle for years. He urged the administration to extend the runway by acquiring the necessary land from Tamil Nadu.
