VHP criticises Tamil Nadu Govt.
By Our Special Correspondent
BANGALORE,
NOV. 22.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has condemned the treatment meted out to the Kanchi seer, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, by the Tamil Nadu Government and termed it "heinous and inhuman."
The Tamil Nadu Government had been behaving irresponsibly but claiming it was impartial and non-interfering with regard to the case, the VHP charged.
The courts had deliberately placed the seer in police custody and refused to grant bail, the VHP's regional secretary for Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, B.N. Murthy, alleged in a statement to the press.
He demanded the immediate unconditional release of the swamiji and transfer of all the cases to another State where religious leaders were treated with due respect.
