LUCKNOW, NOV. 22. Blaming the Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh Government for lapses in controlling naxalites, the Congress today ridiculed the call of the Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav, for a `third front' in the country. ``The state government has failed to control naxalite activities, nor it is interested in doing so,'' claimed the Congress State president, Salman Khurshid, here. Talking to mediapersons, he claimed not a single SP leader had visited the spot where 15 policemen were killed in the naxalite blast. ``The government is not committed to tackling the problem.'' Reacting to Mr Yadav's call for forging a third alliance in the country, the Congress leader observed the Chief Minister should first clarify why he wanted a third front when Congress was there to fight the communal forces. ``Mr Yadav only wants a `third class force' so that the SP superiority complex is maintained,'' he added. To another poser, Mr Khurshid said no regional party had flourished without the support of national parties and gave the examples of the RJD in Bihar and the NCP in Maharastra. ``Can Mr Yadav justify why his party is interested in forming a third front when there is political stability in the country and the communal forces are active,'' he said. Criticising the U.P. Government for accusing the Centre for taking a biased attitude on financial package demand, the Congress leader said when the State could not utilise the Central funds, it had no right to seek more aid.
